I am an illustrator and a Professor of Art History and Illustration living in Brooklyn, NY. Take a peek into my studio!
I'm trained as both an art historian (PhD UPenn '09) and as an illustrator, but never thought I'd be able to do both. I'm terribly lucky to spend my days teaching students the history, theory, and practice of art while spending nights and free time as an illustrator, using art to tell my stories. You see, I've always been a storyteller. Ask anyone. I'm also a baby guitarist...give it time!
I work in a highly-detailed, rich, timeless black and white, or in lush full color, mixing magic and whimsy with reality. While my older work is all on paper, my recent work combines traditional painting techniques with digital drawing and collage.
