About the Artist

Jessica Boehman is an illustrator and a professor of Art History and Fine Arts living in NYC.  Jessica works  in highly-detailed, rich, timeless black and white, or in lush full color, mixing magic and whimsy with reality.

Jessica grew up as part of a large military family.  She's lived in several states throughout the country, and abroad in Germany and Italy, the two countries of her cultural origin.  These countries inspire her work. Jessica graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts, with honors in Art and Art History and a concentration in illustration, from McDaniel College ('99).  She also holds two graduate degrees in art history: an M.A. (Penn State '02) and Ph.D. (UPenn '09).  She was a Fulbright scholar in Rome (Art History) in 2006-2007.
Jessica has illustrated book covers, private commissions, commercial logos, and fabric designs for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  Her work has been featured in the Huffington Post, the Arts Business Institute,  www.artsyshark.com, the SCBWI magazine, and 7 Impossible Things Before Breakfast.  Her first book, The Lions at Night, based on her short 2016 comic,  will be published in March 2019 by The RoadRunner Press.  She is currently working on her second book, The Day the Iceberg Came to Town, written by Joshua Boehman.
